islamabad united shadab khan- peshawar zalmi babar azam

In the inaugural home game of the season, Islamabad United took on Peshawar Zalmi at the Rawalpindi Cricket Stadium. Having won the toss, Babar Azam decided to take the field first.

From the beginning of the game, captain Shadab Khan established dominance and amassed one of his greatest career innings, scoring 80 runs off just 47 balls. A consistent 37 runs off 25 balls were made by Salman Ali Agha, establishing a 65-run partnership.

Along with setting up a 68-run partnership with Jordan Cox, the United skipper was also a major factor in the club reaching its massive total and hitting a target of 197.
Saim Ayub was the most effective bowler during the power play. He dismissed Alex Hales and Colin Munro, two batsmen who represent the foundation of Islamabad's top order batting, to bring down the top order.

Peshawar had a terrible start, losing Babar Azam in the opening over as Alex Hales, having dismissed Pakistan's master batsman, atoned in some way for his duck.

Hunain Shah and Naseem Shah, the brothers, stopped the yellow storm in the powerplay by taking five wickets in a row and demolishing the top order with an incredible new ball session.

Along with reaching his 300th wicket in T20 cricket, Shadab Khan also accomplished an amazing milestone, finishing with 3-41 bowling statistics in his allotted 4 overs.

With his perfect power, Aamer Jamal destroyed bowlers all over the field, hitting sixes and scoring 87 runs off of 49 balls. Paul Walter was the only player to support him at the other end, scoring 33 runs off of 29 deliveries.

Rumman Raees and Hunain Shah each took two wickets to aid Islamabad United in a crucial victory.

With their third win of the PSL 9 season, Islamabad United defeated Peshawar Zalmi by 29 runs, moving up to third position in the standings.

Because of his all-around effort, Shadab Khan was named man of the match.
