In partnership with Excel Consulting Services, the country's first e-Rozgar Center was opened in Islamabad on Tuesday by Dr. Umar Saif, the acting federal minister for information technology and telecommunications. Initially, the space will accommodate 100 fully operational workstations for independent contractors, with the potential to grow to 300 workstations in the future.
Speaking at the event, the minister stated that the center's creation officially marked the start of the project to establish 10,000 e-rozgar centers across the nation. Additionally, we fulfilled another promise made to the populace, allowing a sizable portion of the 1.5 million current and upcoming new freelancers to work independently for extremely low rates.
He continued, "The best facilities are being offered to them. These include training centers, individual cabins, meeting spaces, high-speed internet, UPS, and separate office rooms for start-ups."

In addition, Dr. Saif stated that under a public-private partnership, these centers will be able to significantly increase the capacity and income of freelancers; under this great project, IT exports may increase by $10 billion annually in the near future. The Pakistan Software Export Board (PSEB) will be in charge of providing freelancers and the necessary technical support for these centers.
He claimed that in the brief time of the caretaker administration, the hardest decisions pertaining to the IT and telecom sectors had been made, and that the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) was the only organization that made this possible.
"Hopefully, the newly elected administration will continue to play its full part in growing Pakistan's digital economy, as a thorough strategy of Digital Pakistan has been prepared and a proper climate for the next government has been created," he concluded.
