MULTAN - On Sunday night, in the third match of Pakistan Super League Season 9, the stunning Multan Cricket Stadium saw the Multan Sultans defeat the Karachi Kings by a margin of 55 runs.
Karachi Kings lost wickets at frequent intervals from the beginning while chasing a 186-run mark for victory, finishing at 130/8 in the 20 overs allocated. With 53 runs, veteran Shoaib Malik led all scorers, followed by captain Shan Masood with 30. Kieron Pollard scored 28 runs without losing.
There was just one other hitter who scored in double figures, and the Kings were 55 runs shy of the Sultans' total. Usama Mir claimed one wicket, David Willey and Abbas Afridi each claimed two, while Muhammad Ali claimed three wickets.
Amir Reeza Hendricks was declared the game's MVP.Shan Masood, the skipper of Karachi Kings, asked to bat first. After losing captain Mohammad Rizwan at 17, Reeza Hendricks (79) and Dawid Malan (52) steadied the ship with a 121-run partnership.
Khushdil Shah's (28) cameo enabled Multan Sultans to score a respectable 185/2 in the 20 overs that were allocated. Daniel Sams and Mir Hamza each took one wicket.Since winning four of the last five PSL games, the Sultans have had the upper hand against the Kings. In PSL 8, the Kings emerged victorious in the final game following four consecutive losses.
