Islamabad captain Shadab Khan demonstrated exceptional skills as he forged a strong connection with rising talent Salman Ali Agha, chasing the massive scores made by the host team, Qalandar.
The first blow to United came when Colin Munro came back early and was caught by Zaman Khan after scoring five runs in two overs. After that, Alex Hales grabbed control and scored 36 runs off of just 28 balls.
Sahibzada Farhan and Rassie van der Dussen's fast half-tons propelled Lahore Qalandars to a commanding 195–5 first-half total against Islamabad United in the opening PSL 2024 encounter.
Thanks to a strong partnership between Sahibzada Farhan and navy man Fakhar Zaman, Qalandars' hitters also demonstrated their best abilities as they got off to a fast start in their innings.
Farhan, who hit 57 off of 36, is still the second-highest scorer. Skilled batter Fakhar Zaman returned after hitting 13 but was unable to score much. With eight boundaries and a maximum, Shibzada Farhan maintained control and dominated the visitors, recording his first-ever PSL half-century.
Rassie van der Dussen and Abdullah Shafique later assumed command of Qalandar's batting expedition.
After that, the pair combined for 73 runs for the third wicket off of just 42 deliveries. Although it seemed like Lahore Qalandars was in control, Mills caught Abdullah, who struck 28 goals off of 22 deliveries.
Rassie van der Dussen, meantime, supported Qalandars' total by carrying his bat the entire way. At 71, he was still undefeated, breaking four boundaries and three maximums.
Mills led United in the bowling department with 2/45, and Naseem Shah and Shadab Khan each claimed one wicket.
