In response to a sharp increase in militant attacks, the Pakistani government closed key border crossings with Afghanistan and Iran on Thursday, the eve of the country's elections.
The most vulnerable region of the country, Balochistan, witnessed multiple bomb blasts near political candidates who were targeted, resulting in approximately 28 fatalities and numerous injuries.
A spokesperson for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Mumtaz Zahra Baloch, stated that in order to ensure full security during the general elections, border crossings with Afghanistan and Iran would remain closed for both cargo and pedestrians.

She added that normal operations would resume on Friday. In response to the violence, the Foreign Office closed border crossings with Afghanistan and Iran during the general elections in Pakistan.

Tehreek-i-Taliban Pakistan attacked security personnel, causing a massive increase in terror activities in the crisis-hit nation, particularly in KP and Balochistan.
Pakistani officials ordered the deployment of security personnel to be completed ahead of the election, while military forces were deployed to ensure a smooth polling process.
