Hours before the match in Christchurch on Friday, New Zealand's opener Devon Conway was declared out of the fourth Twenty20 International against Pakistan due to a positive COVID-19 test.
New Zealand Cricket (NZC) released a statement saying, "Conway has been in isolation at the team's Christchurch hotel after testing positive yesterday. He will be closely watched leading up to Sunday's final game against Pakistan."
Chad Bowes, a batter for the Canterbury Kings, will be added to the team to relieve Conway. New Zealand Cricket also reported that Andre Adams, a bowling coach, tested positive for COVID-19.
The same excuse kept spinner Mitch Santner out of the opening game of the series, which he is leading New Zealand in the absence of regular captain Kane Williamson's injury.
