On January 29, 2024, in Islamabad, the Carrier Neutral Pakistan Internet Exchange & Data Center held its Operational Launch event. Dr. Umar Saif, the Caretaker Federal Minister for IT and Telecommunication, delivered the keynote address.
In cooperation with important organizations including PTCL, SCO, PTA, De CIX, PEACE Cable, and China Mobile, the telecom and IT sectors in Pakistan have accomplished three noteworthy milestones on this historic occasion, signifying a substantial progress for the industry.
First, a historic deal has been struck by China to route its Internet traffic through Pakistan. This establishes Pakistan as an essential regional connectivity hub that is anticipated to yield significant money from Internet transit traffic.
Second, to improve the dependability of internet connectivity across the nation, PTCL has successfully launched Pakistan's first carrier-neutral IXP and Data center.
