We're sharing some worrying news today regarding Imran Khan and the PTI (Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf). A major blow came when Imran Khan, the PTI's founder, had his nomination papers for Lahore and Mianwali rejected. PTI expressed discontent with the procedure in response to a string of rejections, which preceded the release of this news.
The nomination papers of Imran Khan were declined by the Returning Officer (RO) for the NA-122 constituency in Lahore. Another PTI leader, Khurram Sher Zaman, asserted that Imran's candidacies in Islamabad and Mianwali suffered a same fate.
The concerns expressed by former PML-N MPA Mian Naseer Ahmed were outlined in a thorough order issued by Muhammad Iqbal, the NA-122 RO of Lahore. The objections included the following: Imran's proposer did not vote from NA-122; Imran was convicted of dishonesty; and Imran's nomination form did not have the superintendent of Adiala Jail's attestation.
The RO came to the conclusion that Imran's proposer was in fact not a voter in the constituency, which constituted a serious flaw that was unfixable. Imran's disqualification was triggered by Article 63(1)(h) of the Constitution due to his conviction for the moral turpitude charge.
This refusal fits into a larger pattern; comparable experiences have been had by a number of other prominent PTI executives. The party intends to contest these denials in court and claims that ROs have engaged in widespread malpractice.
What Omar Ayub, the secretary general of the PTI, called the "politically motivated rejection of nomination papers" for a number of PTI officials was denounced. Prominent individuals including Zulfi Bukhari, Hammad Azhar, and Shah Mehmood Qureshi all reported experiencing similar rejections.
Zulfi Bukhari expressed his annoyance, saying his documents were rejected because of alleged problems with his signatures. He declared that he would challenge the ruling in court and highlighted how his attorneys, proposers, and seconders had been kidnapped.
Following a number of denials, PTI said that about ninety percent of its prominent leaders' nominations were turned down. The party, which included Asad Qaiser, the former speaker of the National Assembly, vowed to challenge these denials in court.
In conclusion, Imran Khan's nomination debacle is part of a larger problem impacting other PTI leaders. The rejection of nomination papers has been surrounded by allegations of malfeasance and political reasons, setting the ground for judicial challenges.
